武汉软件工程职业学院是武汉市人民政府举办的一所全日制普通高等学校 , 也是湖北省唯一一所全国示范性软件职业学院。学院与众多高等院校、高新技术企业毗邻，占地1000余亩，建筑面积46万平方米。在校生已达14000余人。
学院有一支学科结构、专业结构、年龄结构合理的教师队伍，现有专任教师 459名，其中教授7名、副教授（含高讲、副高级职称）205名；设有11个系部， 51个专业、80余个专业方向。形成了以软件技术、光电子、机电工程、汽车应用、数控技术、环境化学、食品生物技术、英语等为骨干专业，理、工、文、管等多学科专业格局。
学院坚持“以服务为宗旨，以就业为导向，产学研结合”的办学方针，迄今已与“中百”仓储、楚天激光等 200 余家知名企事业单位签订了订单培养协议；学院坚持开放办学的理念，积极引进国内外优质高等职业教育资源，提高办学质量。学院先后与英国爱丁堡特福德学院、德国马克斯培训中心就教师交流、共同培养艺术设计、商贸等专业高等职业技术人才，达成合作协议；与美国华盛顿州史波根社区大学，日本名古渥大学，新西兰怀卡托理工学院就联合办学暨国际职业培训项目达成初步合作意向；与微软公司就共同培养软件开发和计算机应用人才达成协议，并已于 2004 年开办试验班，效果良好；与华中科技大学、武汉大学软件学院达成联合办学协议；与湖北国际人才外包培养基地签约合作；聘请武汉知名专家、教授进行教学督导，确保教学质量。
学院被教育部、信息产业部等六部委确定为“计算机应用与软件技术专业领域技能型紧缺人才培养培训基地”、“汽车运用国家紧缺人才培养培训基地”；被教育部确定为“汽车检测与维修区域实习实训基地院校”；被信息产业部授予“ IT 职业技术教育工程定点院校”。学院坚持为地方经济建设服务，辐射全省、全国的就业网络已经形成，高就业率和高就业质量成为学院“亮点”。

Brief Introduction of WHVCSE
Wuhan Vocational College of Software and Engineering is a full-time regular college of higher learning. It is conducted by the People’s Government of Wuhan City and it is the only software vocational college that is certificated by the Ministry of Education in Hubei Province . WHVCSE abuts numerous colleges as well as high-tech enterprises and occupies an area of more than 670 square kilometers including a constructive area of 460 square kilometers. The number of WHVCSE’s students has reached more than 14 thousand.
The college has a team of teachers with an appropriate framework of subjects, majors and ages. There are 459 full-time teachers including 7 professors, 205 vice-professors (covering senior lecturers). The college has 11 departments including 51 majors and more than 80 subjects. Our key majors are Software Technology, Optoelectronics Application, Mechanism and Electronics Engineering, Automobile Application, Numerical Control Technology, Environment and Chemistry Engineering, Food Biological Technology and English. We have formed a harmonious layout of science, engineering, arts and management in the arrangement of majors.
WHVCSE sticks to the school policy of “service-principled, employment-oriented, production, teaching and research-integrated ” and has signed agreements with more than two hundred famous enterprises, such as Wuhan Zhongbai Group and Chutian Laser Group. WHVCSE holds the open-schooling idea, which means importing excellent higher vocational educational resources at home and abroad in order to improve the schooling quality. WHVCSE has signed agreements with Britain Edinburgh special Ford College and German Max Training Center on teacher exchanges and cultivating senior vocational technicians in the field of art design and trade and business, etc. WHVCSE has reached cooperative intention with several colleges in America , Japan and New Zealand on joint operation of schools as well as the Project of International Vocational Training. WHVCSE not only has signed agreement on training professionals in the fields of software development and computer using with Microsoft Company, but also has already run a testing-class in 2004 and the result is satisfying. WHVCSE has signed agreement on joint operation of schools with Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University Software College . WHVCSE also engages famous experts in Wuhan who teach, supervise and guide teaching in order to ensure the teaching quality. WHVCSE has been granted as the Cultivating and Training Base of Technical Talents in the field of Computer Application and Software Technology as well as the Cultivating and Training Base of Scarce Talents in the field of Automobile Application by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Information Industry. It also has been granted as the Cultivating and Training Center for Talents of Automobile Application and Maintenance by the Ministry of Education and has been awarded" IT Vocational and Technical Education Project Fixed Universities and Colleges ". WHVCSE sticks to serve the local economic construction and the employment web in the Hubei Province and China has been formed. The high rate and quality of employment has been the distinguishing characteristic of WHVCSE.
WHVCSE will continue to deepen the reform, accelerate the development, perfect the conditions and renovate the traits in order to construct the college as the base of cultivating technical talents which can satisfy the needs of the economic development and the labor market of Wuhan, the base of software development and application with domestic advanced stage, the base of the software technology talents cultivation mode reformation international exchanges and cooperation, the base of international cooperation and joint operation of schooling management system and operational mechanism reform between enterprises and schools in order to realize the target of stepping into the list of 100 exemplar vocational colleges in China.
